50 Easy Ways That You Can Practice Self-Love

I need to share something, I am so freaking proud of myself! I’m proud of my consistency with writing, I’m proud of my dedication to my mental and physical health, and I’m proud of the sense of purpose that I have developed through this process of creating and curating this blog.

I believe that self-celebration is so important, from the smallest of achievements to the really huge wins, the way that you celebrate yourself when you win can help you to stick with your goals no matter what they are. Self-celebration is a method of self-love.

It’s not always easy to know what actions you can take to provide that comfort to yourself. There are some pretty obvious things that you can do to yourself that can impact you and your happiness negatively, but for the most part, self-love actions are fun and are motivating.

  1. Tell yourself 3 things that you’re good at (write them down on post-it notes and stick them to your mirror)
  2. Wake up 30 minutes earlier to have a moment to yourself (I like to take this time to do some meditation or yoga)
  3. Cook yourself a healthy breakfast (here is one of my favorite paleo recipes and it’s super easy to make!)
  4. Take a bath with a few drops of your favorite essential oils
  5. Take a shower and listen to your favorite music (I’ve been listening to the soundtrack for “A Star Is Born”)
  6. Take a scenic walk
  7. Start journaling
  8. Read a new book (can I suggest You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero)
  9. Pop yourself some popcorn and enjoy your favorite movie (I have two favorites, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Gone With The Wind)
  10. Buy fresh flowers for the house
  11. Spray your favorite fragrance
  12. Write a short achievable, but challenging to-do list and celebrate yourself everytime you complete a task
  13. Treat yourself to an at-home spa (try the Nugg face masks)
  14. Listen to a podcast (I love listening to Support Is Sexy by Elane Fluker, she has so much positivity and an amazing voice!)
  15. Listen to an audiobook
  16. Spend time at your local animal shelter and play with some adorable dogs and cats
  17. Have a good cry (I can not express enough how important it is to get those emotions out and into a pillow or whatever, as long as it’s out of you)
  18. Write out your budget for the month (there are a few good apps out there, I like Mint or PocketGuard)
  19. Wear something that makes you look good
  20. Make a yummy fruit smoothie (don’t forget to add your spinach and kale!)
  21. Or just have a bowl of freshly cut fruit
  22. Call up a friend and have a good chat
  23. Write someone a nice card or letter
  24. You can also write one to yourself as well
  25. Light a candle
  26. Declutter your workspace (here are some tips to help you get started)
  27. Go through your closet and throw away things that you haven’t worn in the past 3 months (or if it no longer fits, let’s be honest)
  28. Take a yoga class (if you happen to live in the Seattle area, Groupon has a great deal here)
  29. Try a new restaurant (and a new cuisine if you dare!)
  30. Give yourself a mani-pedi (I’m loving Essie, It Takes A West Village)
  31. Try a new lip color at Sephora
  32. Have an ice cream cone (Again, if you are in the with a fresh waffle cone)
  33. Go to bed early
  34. Moisturize your hands before bed with a nice buttery lotion and keep it bedside (my boyfriend’s mom got me this goat’s milk body lotion for Christmas and it is amazing!)
  35. Refresh your music playlist (this task might call for a glass of wine)
  36. Call a family member to tell them you love them
  37. Take a nap
  38. Learn a new language (I keep telling myself that I’m going to learn French, this might be the year to do it!)
  39. Take an art class
  40. Host a potluck with friends
  41. Before bed say one thing about the day that you’re grateful for
  42. Cuddle
  43. Create a vision board (make it a party and invite some friends! More friends = more glitter!)
  44. Sing your favorite song
  45. Take a dance class
  46. Go for a run (let those endorphins flow through you!)
  47. Set a reasonable budget and take yourself shopping
  48. Volunteer for a cause that you believe in (I’ve used volunteermatch.org in the past to help me find volunteer opportunities in my area)
  49. Listen to a Ted Talk (I like listening to Mel Robbins to give me the kick in the butt I need to get motivated)
  50. Go for a drive and take the scenic route
